Requirements for the Field Trial

You will need:

A mobile device with Web browsing capabilities. XHTML support is a minimum requirement.

Not Supported

WAP browsers are not supported for this field trial.

Why not? The WAP protocol is a standard for information services on mobile devices. WML is the language used to create pages for display in a WAP browser. Pages created in WML do not support the Web that is traditionally accessed from a desktop computer as the pages will not display correctly, if at all.

The Mobile Web Initiative is about opening up access to the traditional Web as we know it when using a desktop computer. It does not intend to support sites that have been created specifically for mobile devices alone.

The microsites have been developed in XHTML, not WML.

To find out if your mobile has the right software please refer to your user manual. We do not have a list of supported device types, sorry!
